Visit Sri Lanka for a year round holiday

Daisy

If you’re looking for somewhere a little different for a holiday and you enjoy the heat, humidity and the lush vegetation of the tropics, then Sri Lanka may be the perfect holiday destination. It is also one of the few places which has a year round holiday season despite the incidence of monsoon rains. When the monsoon hits the south-west of the country, then the north-east remains dry and vice versa.

Sri Lanka had endured nearly 30 years of fighting and Civil War but this officially ended in 2009. The east coast also suffered the devastating effects of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. However, during the last 5 or 6 years there has been investment in tourism and, in road infrastructure, in particular, making the island accessible and pleasant and easy to drive around.

Sri Lanka is a beautiful island with diverse landscapes. Enjoy the cooler climate of the picturesque hill towns, relax on the  quiet beaches of the east coast, and surf on the breezy seas in the south. Visit one or two of the many National Parks and explore the temple ruins in the centre and  compare the lively Hindu villages and towns of the north with the peace and calmness in Buddhist towns and settlements.  You will not be disappointed!
