Bulgaria may not be the most popularEuropean holiday destination but it definitely has the potential to be up there with the likes of Spain and Greece. Bulgaria is a great deal cheaper than its European equivalents, but the beaches are just as superb, and less crowded.
There is more than 8 kilometres of golden sand on Cacao Beach, while the clear blue seas and modern hotel complexes only improve holiday packages here. The restaurants and thatched beach bars resemble holidays in Spain and Greece, but there’s something slightly different in terms of traditions, culture and the local people.
The Bulgarians love a market or two and there are plenty of historic buildings that are still standing. You can even go to Pomorie and experience what it was like to take a mud bath, but do wash down before you get back into your rented car!
